Seymour unveils heavy-duty milling/boring machines

Seymour Engineering has introduced a range of heavy-duty, large-capacity precision CNC milling and boring machines: the F Type (travelling column) and the T Type 3,000mm (travelling table).
The machines can be built with various column heights and longer or shorter rams.
The F Type X axis can be built to customer requirements and the T Type table can be shorter if required.
An F Type version is currently being built for a customer in Lancashire with the following specification: fabricated bed sections; cast-iron column, ram and saddles; precision linear rails and guides; high-precision ball screws; gearless ram drive to the milling head; X-axis travel 13,000mm; Y-axis travel 3,000mm; Z-axis travel 1,050mm; hydraulic counterbalance to the Y axis; and manual universal milling head with hydraulic draw bar.
The CNC is Siemens 840D SL and servos are from Siemens Sinamics.

If only we had CNC on our heavy machines

On visits to heavy engineering and power station maintenance shops, the production engineers there have often said: "If only we had CNC.... Acu-Rite now offers free feasibility studies to fit CNC.
On visits to heavy engineering and power station maintenance shops, the production engineers there have often said: "If only we had CNC on this Kearns horizontal borer, on this Noble and Lund plano miller ....
Well, Acu-Rite, manufacturers of digital read-out systems and 3D CNC retrofit 'kits', is now able to take enquiries from users of 'heavy' and 'super-heavy' machine tools.
The company offers free feasibility studies for fitting advanced DRO or full CNC systems and drives packages - Mike Page.
